Anti-cancer herb tablet
passes tests
THE first traditional chinese medicine anti-cancer tablet
to be approved by the Ministry of Public Health has gone into production.
The tablet,which contains 20 kinds of medicinal herbs,is
being manufactured by the Lengshuijiang Pharmacy in eastern Hunan Province.
Experts say it shows that the treatment of cancer with traditional Chinese herbal medicine
has reached a new level.
Professor Pan Minqiu,of the Hunan Traditional Chinese
Medicine Research Institute,spent more than 10 years developing the medicine,and it took
another four years for the institute and the pharmacy to produce the tablet successfully.
In tests by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Research
Institute of Hunan Province,which is affiliated with the Shanghai Chinese Medicine
Research Institute and other hospitals proved effective in preventing cancer cells from
growing,especially in cases of liver cancer.
There search programme that led to its production won the
top National Science and Technology Progress Award for traditional Chinese medicine in
1992. |
